The 2026 Grammy Awards were supposed to be a night about celebrating music, but the spotlight quickly shifted when host Trevor Noah made a joke about Nicki Minaj’s recent support for Donald Trump and the Republican Party. What followed turned into one of the most talked-about moments after the show, not on stage, but online.
Shortly after the broadcast, Nicki Minaj took to X (formerly Twitter) with a series of explosive posts aimed at Jay-Z. She shared old photos of him posing with Aaliyah and Beyoncé in the late 1990s, overlaying the images with their ages at the time. Minaj accompanied the posts with disturbing claims, accusing powerful figures of “sacrificing children” to gain and maintain influence. She went further, warning fans against voting Democrat and announcing that she would not release new music until her contract is renegotiated and alleged sabotage involving Billboard is exposed through an ongoing RICO investigation.
Are y’all understanding that these ppl have been sacrificing children as a way of gaining & maintaining power? If you ever vote DemonCrat again, you’re just as soulless as they are & will perish. Maybe it’s time for me to do some story times — since I was trying to not say what I… pic.twitter.com/yZTcthaMpM

In another post, Minaj bluntly labeled Jay-Z a “#ChildPREDATOR,” sparking immediate backlash. Many fans rushed to his defense, calling out what they saw as hypocrisy. Some referenced Minaj’s marriage to Kenneth Petty, whose criminal past includes a sex-offense conviction, while others criticized her recent proximity to Donald Trump, accusing her of selective outrage.
This latest outburst didn’t come out of nowhere. Minaj and Jay-Z have a long history of tension, dating back to her claims that she was underpaid after Jay-Z sold Tidal in 2021. Since then, she has repeatedly accused him and Roc Nation of wrongdoing. Last October, she even threatened to retire from music, directly blaming Jay-Z and announcing she would scrap a planned album.

Politics have only deepened the divide. Jay-Z and Beyoncé have publicly supported Democratic candidates for years, while Minaj’s embrace of conservative politics has alienated many fans and industry peers. What began as a Grammy joke has now reopened old wounds, blending music, money, and politics into a very public and messy feud.
