Meek Mill is breaking his musical silence with ambitious plans—and he’s not being subtle about it. The Philadelphia rapper took to X (formerly Twitter) to directly court J. Cole for a feature on his forthcoming album, marking a potential turning point in a career that’s been relatively quiet on the release front.
“I need j Cole on my project wassup bro let’s get it in the studio!!!!!” Meek tweeted, catching fans off guard with the public plea. The request comes weeks after he dropped a surprise freestyle, “Head High,” signaling renewed creative energy following sporadic output since his prolific 2015-2018 run.
The social media reaction has been predictably mixed. Some fans questioned his approach—“Why are you tweeting this? Just connect with him on LinkedIn,” one user jabbed, referencing Meek’s recent threat to abandon X for the professional networking platform. Others were harsher, with comments ranging from “You don’t have the right to record with cole bro” to Diddy-related jokes warning Cole to “be cautious.”

The 38-year-old’s last solo album, Expensive Pain, dropped five years ago. His most recent full-length was 2023’s collaborative Too Good To Be True with Rick Ross, followed by the brief Indie Pack (Vol. 01) EP.
Securing Cole’s involvement presents logistical challenges. The Fayetteville star is currently deep in promotion for The Fall Off—released just last month—before launching a massive 73-date world tour in July that runs through mid-December. Still, with Cole currently dominating hip-hop’s conversation, the timing for a career-reviving collaboration couldn’t be better.
If realized, this would mark their first official track together as lead artists.
