906Hammy Speaks On “Summertime in Northern Michigan” The Project

When you talk about raw chemistry in music, the connection between 906Hammy and Zonami is the perfect example. “The energy between me and Zonami was always so pure, every time we’re in the room together the ideas just pour like rain,” 906Hammy explains. The two have cooked up countless genre-bending tracks, with Zonami not only hopping on features but also handling mixing, sampling, and even some beat work. “He’s a super talented kid the world needs to watch for,” Hammy adds.

Coming from Northern Michigan, 906Hammy proudly embraces his roots. “It feels so cool but weird at the same time. Sometimes I was living around 20,000 people, other times I was out in the SOS zones on 48 acres,” he shares. The new project leans into that upbringing, blending country grit with hip-hop energy, pulling inspiration from bands like Treaty Oak Revival and Ole 60. He gets real about young love, addiction, and climbing out of life’s holes — often recording in late-night or early-morning sessions.

The grind started back in 8th grade, after freestyling in his buddy’s basement. “A classmate who was making music on SoundCloud inspired me. My friends always told me I should pursue it, so I made a song and stuck with it. I was always influenced by hip-hop.” That foundation has carried him to multiple world tours before even being old enough to legally buy a drink. “Touring and meeting the people who changed my life — that’s the best part of all this.”

When it comes to the project’s standout, 906Hammy points to the opening track: “Wanted.” Catchy and unforgettable, it’s already got early listeners hooked. But the whole project is layered for connection. “I feel like people are gonna relate in so many different ways — through pain, heartbreak, mental health, addiction, or just vibing with a good tune.”

And of course, being from Michigan comes with the inevitable question: Kid Rock or Eminem? Hammy doesn’t hesitate. “I grew up on both, especially Eminem. ‘Smack That’ with Akon was the first song I memorized, and I can reenact 8 Mile to a T.”

With unshakable authenticity, country roots, and undeniable hip-hop spirit, 906Hammy is carving out his own lane — and he’s just getting started.
