Indie Spotlight: Interview With 15th Cole

Where did your name come from?

My stage name ‘15th cole’ is a set combination of both one of the street names where I grew up (around my Junior/Senior years of HS) along with my first legal name. 15th Street is off the main strip through a small little town infested by the elderly and drug activity, called New Florence. Cole is my first name and the stagename I first intended to sell my music with, until I came to the realization that ‘Cole’ just didn’t stick out enough. 15th cole rang to me and those around me whenever the idea had struck, and the gimmick has been great and on-going ever since!

Do you write your own material?

EVERYTHING. Every one of my singles, projects, EP’s, etc. have all been fully written and done by yours truly.

Do you create your own music video concepts?

Both yes and no! I’ve just recently started getting into music videos this year, only having one released right now. As far as my next music video(s) , yes, they all have some basic concepts to have both the energy of the visuals you see, match up with the vibe of what the audience is listening to. Theme of clothing, background characters both their emotions and outfits, the colors, visuals, etc. all revolve around the song/project. Next music video is projected to be released Sept. 15th, stay tuned!

What’s your favorite music to listen to?

My favorite music to listen to would mainly be today’s Hip-Hop and all sub genres within that, as well as 90’s HipHop. Considering my mother had me around a young age of 19-20, 90’s HipHop and music scene in general during that era played a major role in my life and my belief as to being the root to why I’m an artist today. Tupac, Biggie, Afroman, Christina Aguilera, Miley Cyrus, DMX, are some of the artists I grew up listening to going back to as early as I could remember. Nowadays my most inspiring artists when it comes to creating my own artform, and choice of listening usually consists of: Lil Yachty. Drake, Kodak Black, Lil Wayne, Young Thug, Future, Drakeo The Ruler, and 03 Greedo. Those are my personal favorites, even though the genres of music that I listen to in general, branches far out much further from simply HipHop.

What are you currently working on?

For right now, I am in the making of my 3 track EP based off the single recently released, Anthracite. All in all, the idea came from a no longer friend of a friend. They gave me the idea, always telling me I was the “Coolest Cole” which later led to them calling me Anthracite. One

thing led to another after the nickname, and I ended up forming a plan around the new nickname and contacted my friend overseas to create a cover art, which was made before a track let alone an EP was even thought of. Beginning with the self-titled project and song itself, the track revolves around me telling both myself and anybody around me, a fan, hater, family, friend, etc. anybody who comes across my music or in my life in general that no matter how many “Cole’s” there are out there, I’m going out as one of the ‘hottest’ Coles (coals) there will ever be.The project starts off with a very upbeat tempo with a touch of the past sounding drums and snares, along with punchy lines full of cockiness, simply explaining that I’m trying to have equivalent, if not greater status and legacy than J. Cole and Cole Bennett, two of the greatest ‘Cole’s to do something for our time. (in my opinion) The second track ‘Oh Really?’ is a more trap based beat with an enhanced, unique mixing on the vocals that’d I’d say is a statement, me really putting my foot down and showing my place. The statement explains throughout the song, that as I slowly am going through the process of acquiring a fan base, manager, funds, on top of my friends doing well if not better than me, everything that’s happening and that I’m working towards is mostly for myself. Not that I don’t want those around me to win, but I want to win more, and maintain those wins until further expansion is capable. Lastly, finishing up with the track ‘i.c.l.g’ (i can’t let go) describes different times throughout both the last year and me looking into the brightness of my future, surrounding: music videos, upcoming interviews, shows and festivals, meeting other artists, etc. I simply describe how great (in my opinion) it is to live the lifestyle of being both in the music industry in general and future potential star to the public eye. The long nights spent working hard, great times, good energy, and the numerous creative processes with both music, and other forms of art that come together are the most memorable and greatest part of being an artist. Ending both the project and song, really just describes how once I fully succeed in my own eyes, and obtain the ‘lifestyle’ and my ultimate goal, I will be overfilled with happiness, and both obsessed and unable to ‘let go’ of the way I’m living and going to live in the future, bringing an end to the EP!

Bayou to the Booth: NBM MARCELLO’s Rise from New Orleans to the Nation

By PlueskiMay 13, 20250

In the heart of New Orleans, where jazz once reigned supreme, a new sound is echoing through the streets—raw, unfiltered, and undeniably hip-hop. NBM MARCELLO, a name that’s been buzzing in the underground scene, is carving out his own lane with a blend of gritty storytelling and melodic flows that pay homage to his roots while pushing the genre forward. With over seven years in the game, MARCELLO’s journey began with his debut single “Lonely,” a track that laid bare his experiences and set the tone for his authentic approach to music. Drawing inspiration from legends like Lil Wayne, Future, and 50 Cent, he crafts narratives that resonate with listeners navigating similar struggles and triumphs. His latest release, “LEVELS” featuring NBM Rabbit, is a testament to his growth and versatility. The track showcases his ability to seamlessly blend introspective lyrics with head-nodding beats, creating a sound that’s both thought-provoking and club-ready. It’s a sonic journey through the highs and lows of ambition, reflecting the complexities of chasing dreams in a world full of obstacles. But MARCELLO isn’t just a solo act; his collaborations with artists like Ro Got It, Slimsimma, and Joeazzy highlight his commitment to community and the power of collective creativity. These partnerships infuse his music with diverse perspectives, enriching his sound and broadening his reach. Behind the scenes, MARCELLO is deeply involved in his artistry. He writes his own material and often conceptualizes his music videos, ensuring that every visual and lyrical element aligns with his vision. Working closely with producer Staxx TV, he crafts tracks that are both polished and poignant, reflecting the realities of his environment and experiences. Looking ahead, MARCELLO is focused on expanding his influence. While he’s currently unsigned, he’s open to opportunities that align with his artistic integrity. His aspirations include performing in New York, a city whose energy and history resonate with his own journey. With a mixtape in the works and a growing fanbase fueled by friends and family, the future looks promising.Linktree For those seeking music that speaks to the soul and moves the body, NBM MARCELLO is an artist to watch. His dedication to authenticity and his community-driven approach set him apart in a crowded industry. As he continues to evolve, one thing remains clear: MARCELLO is not just telling his story—he’s amplifying the voices of those who share his path.SoundCloud  Check out his new single “LEVELS” featuring NBM Rabbit: YouTube  Follow him on Instagram: @nbm.marcello
