French Montana is once again shutting down any talk of tension with Drake—this time alongside Max B on The Breakfast Club. While the Drake and Kendrick Lamar feud has dominated headlines, one lesser-discussed subplot involved rumors that Drake issued a cease and desist to French over a feature verse, allegedly contributing to Rick Ross’ fallout with the Toronto superstar. According to French, however, there’s no bad blood at all.
During the interview, DJ Envy asked French directly whether he was still on good terms with Drake. French didn’t hesitate. “That’s my guy,” he said plainly. Envy followed up by mentioning an unreleased record he’d heard, adding that he’d love to hear French and Drake together on a track—possibly with Max B involved as well.
Max B quickly cosigned the idea. “I would love to hear me and Drake too on a record,” he said, giving a shoutout to “Papi.” Charlamagne Tha God expressed confusion over why anyone ever thought there was beef in the first place, prompting French to clarify, “I never went back and forth.”
When Envy pressed about getting the song released, French explained that the decision ultimately rests with Drake. Still, he floated the idea of passing it to Max B, noting that it feels like a “New York record.” The exchange immediately sparked excitement about a potential collaboration between Drake, Max B, and French Montana—an idea that once seemed unlikely given the rumors.
This isn’t the first time French has denied issues with Drake. He’s previously rapped about being tired of questions surrounding Drake and Rick Ross, and has even walked out of interviews when the topic came up. His consistent stance has been that there was never any real conflict.
As for the cease and desist rumors, they may have had some truth to them—Gamma CEO Larry Jackson has acknowledged the situation—but he also framed it as more of a joke than a serious dispute. Either way, it clearly didn’t damage French and Drake’s relationship.
For now, French Montana is making it clear: there’s no beef, no lingering tension—and maybe even a collaboration on the horizon. Whether fans will hear the “Silver Surfer” and the “ICEMAN” on the same track remains to be seen, but the door is wide open.
