Drake’s lavish lifestyle comes with some serious expenses, and DJ Akademiks recently offered fans a glimpse at just how expensive it can be to keep the rapper’s private jet in the air.
During a conversation with Trap Lore Ross at ComplexCon, Akademiks discussed Drake’s finances, lifestyle, and the massive costs connected to “Air Drake,” the superstar’s private aircraft.
According to Akademiks, Drake could be spending more than $100,000 every time the jet takes off. While the exact cost would depend on the flight, distance, fuel, crew, and other operating expenses, the figure gives an idea of the money required to maintain that level of luxury.
For Drake, however, those expenses may be relatively manageable considering the enormous income Akademiks claims the rapper generates.
Earlier in the conversation, Akademiks suggested that Drake could be bringing in more than $25 million per month, which would translate to roughly $300 million annually. Those numbers have not been independently confirmed, but Akademiks appeared confident in his assessment of Drake’s earnings.
The discussion comes at an interesting point in Drake’s career. The Toronto superstar has already confirmed that he plans to tour in 2027, although specific dates and cities have not yet been announced.
A major tour could also give Drake plenty of reasons to put Air Drake to work. After years of international travel, performances, business commitments, and personal trips, the private aircraft has become another recognizable part of the superstar’s larger-than-life image.
Akademiks also referenced Drake’s ability to make expensive trips, including visits to destinations such as Turks & Caicos, while discussing the costs associated with operating the plane.
Of course, owning and operating a private jet involves considerably more than simply paying for fuel. Maintenance, pilots, crew, insurance, airport fees, and other expenses can quickly push the cost of individual flights into six-figure territory.
With Drake potentially heading into another major touring cycle in 2027, Air Drake could be seeing plenty of mileage in the months ahead.
For now, fans are still waiting for the official announcement of Drake’s next tour. But if Akademiks’ estimate is anywhere close to accurate, every trip the superstar takes in his private jet represents a significant expense—even for one of hip-hop’s biggest earners.
