Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar: No Beef, Just Respect, Says Weezy

Despite rumors and speculation surrounding Kendrick Lamar’s “wacced out murals” track, and the upcoming Super Bowl LIX, it seems there’s no animosity between Lil Wayne and the Compton rapper. On Monday (Dec. 16) during an appearance on The Skip Bayless Show, Lil Wayne revealed that the two actually had a conversation amidst social media stirring up rumors of a feud.

“I’ve spoken to him, wished him all the best and told him he better kill it. He gotta kill it,” Lil Wayne shared. However, for fans hoping for a surprise performance, the Young Money boss confirmed he won’t be attending Super Bowl LIX, which takes place at the Caesars Superdome on February 9, 2025, stating he’ll be “not even gonna be in the country.”

In September, Lil Wayne shared a heartfelt video on Instagram, expressing how much not being selected to perform at the Super Bowl “hurt” him. He took much of the blame on himself, saying, “I blame myself for not being mentally prepared.”

When the conversation turned to Kendrick Lamar’s line from “wacced out murals” — “Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud / Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down” — Lil Wayne revealed it was his “first time hearing” the track.

“I think he’s a fan like I’m a fan of his music,” Lil Wayne said. “I think he meant he saw what everyone else saw. He saw how much it meant to me. He didn’t let me down.”

Wayne further explained, “There was no explanation needed for that. His hard work is the reason why he made it there, and obviously, that part about letting me down is just me being upset and disappointed about not getting that spot.”

It’s important to note that the day after Kendrick Lamar’s GNX album dropped unexpectedly on streaming platforms, Lil Wayne posted a tweet: “I just be chillin’ [and they] still [come for] my head. Let’s not take kindness for weakness.” Joe Budden had speculated that Lil Wayne immediately got to work in the studio after hearing Lamar’s lyrics, but this remains unconfirmed at this point.
