Megan Thee Stallion has accused Tory Lanez of continuing to subject her to “repeated trauma and re-victimization” even while he remains imprisoned. In a new legal move, Megan filed for a restraining order against the Canadian artist, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, for ongoing harassment via social media. This is in addition to a previous lawsuit filed against various third parties, including bloggers such as Milagro Gramz, and Lanez’s fan base.
According to a 193-page petition obtained by Rolling Stone, despite his 10-year prison sentence for shooting Megan, Lanez refuses to cease his harmful actions. “Even now, while behind bars, Mr. Peterson shows no signs of stopping,” the petition reads. “He continues to subject her to repeated trauma and re-victimization.”
Megan’s legal team stated that since the expiration of her previous protective order in 2023, Lanez has continued to “terrorize” her from prison. The petition highlights that Megan remains vulnerable without the necessary legal protection, especially with the potential for more harassment and emotional distress when Lanez is eventually released.
Lanez, who was convicted in 2023 on three charges—assault with an automatic firearm, carrying an unregistered loaded weapon, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence—recently hinted at his potential release in a verse on DDG’s song “HANDLING BUSINESS,” released on Dec. 14.
The petition also emphasizes how Lanez’s false claims and attempts to appeal his conviction have reignited damaging and defamatory attacks against Megan, led by his supporters. “Mr. Peterson is fully aware of the psychological toll he has inflicted on Ms. Pete, yet he continues to encourage attacks on her character and integrity,” the legal documents state.
Megan has previously opened up about the 2020 shooting incident with Lanez in her documentary Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words, which debuted in October, alongside her album MEGAN: ACT II.
