“I absolutely love you all!” The Weeknd exclaimed to fans during Spotify’s inaugural Billions Club Live event, where the streaming platform celebrated its most devoted listeners with an exclusive concert experience.

Amid growing conversations about superfans and the music industry’s need to cater to an artist’s most loyal followers, The Weeknd embraced the challenge wholeheartedly. Partnering with Spotify, the global superstar transformed an airplane hangar at Santa Monica Airport into a one-of-a-kind concert venue on Tuesday night (Dec. 17). The intimate event welcomed The Weeknd’s most dedicated listeners, many of whom queued up from the early hours to secure their spot and the best view of the performance.

Billions Club Live is an extension of Spotify’s Billions Club, a prestigious milestone celebrating songs that have surpassed one billion streams. While other members of this elite group include Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Billie Eilish, and Tyler, the Creator, The Weeknd was a natural choice to kick off the live series. The Toronto-born artist boasts a record 24 songs in the Billions Club, more than any other performer, and holds the title for Spotify’s most-streamed song with his 2020 smash hit, “Blinding Lights.”
