Drake Camp Appears To Fuel Jay-Z Feud As Old Gillie Da Kid Comments Resurface

The growing tension between Drake and Jay-Z continues to dominate hip-hop conversations, and now members of Drake’s inner circle appear to be adding fuel to the fire.

Fans recently noticed that Chubbs reportedly interacted with a resurfaced video featuring Gillie Da Kid criticizing Jay-Z and his famous Roc Nation brunches. The clip, which began circulating again on social media, originated from a previous conversation Gillie had with Shannon Sharpe.

In the video, Gillie questioned the value of attending exclusive industry gatherings and suggested that successful creators should focus on building their own brands rather than seeking validation from powerful figures. His comments specifically targeted the annual Roc Nation brunch, an event that has become one of the most recognizable networking gatherings in entertainment.

While the clip itself is not new, its sudden resurgence has attracted attention because of the ongoing lyrical exchanges between Drake and Jay-Z.

The feud intensified after Drake included several references to Jay-Z on his blockbuster album ICEMAN. Jay-Z later appeared to respond during his viral freestyle performance at the Roots Picnic, where fans interpreted several bars as direct shots at the Toronto superstar.

Since then, hip-hop fans have been waiting to see whether Drake will respond directly.

Although Drake has remained publicly quiet regarding the freestyle, several people close to him have been active online. Chubbs’ reported interaction with the Gillie Da Kid clip has been viewed by some fans as a subtle endorsement of criticism directed at Jay-Z and his influence within the industry.

Adding to the speculation, podcast personality Mal recently claimed Drake had reacted privately to Jay-Z’s new hairstyle following the Roots Picnic performance. However, no details regarding Drake’s thoughts on the actual disses were shared.

For now, neither artist has escalated the situation beyond music and indirect commentary. Still, every social media interaction, interview quote, and resurfaced video is being scrutinized by fans eager to see whether the tension develops into a full-fledged lyrical battle.

With ICEMAN continuing its dominant chart run and Jay-Z’s freestyle still generating headlines, the rivalry remains one of hip-hop’s most closely watched storylines. Whether Drake responds directly or lets his associates do the talking remains the biggest question hanging over the conversation.
