Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow Clash with Peter Rosenberg Over Political Endorsement Controversy

Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow, two prominent figures in the New York drill scene, have found themselves at the center of a heated controversy. The conflict arose after radio host Peter Rosenberg demanded their removal from the Hot 97 Summer Jam lineup due to their recent public endorsement of Donald Trump.

The drama unfolded on May 30th when Rosenberg took to the airwaves to voice his disdain for the rappers’ participation in a Trump rally held in the Bronx. He expressed his outrage by stating, “I’m disgusted. Hit ’em both with the button as far as I’m concerned,” and further revealed his efforts to have them removed from the highly anticipated Summer Jam event. “I hit everybody at the station, ‘Let’s pull them off Summer Jam.’ I just want y’all to know, that is me, Karen Rosenberg, I don’t want ’em on Summer Jam,” he added.

Sleepy Hallow is set to perform alongside big names like Doja Cat, Sexyy Red, and French Montana, while Sheff G isn’t officially on the lineup but may join Sleepy Hallow on stage as they often collaborate.

Rosenberg, however, made a slight concession regarding Sleepy Hallow, commenting on the rapper’s apparent amusement during his endorsement speech. “You can tell it’s a big joke to him, which to me in some ways makes it worse,” Rosenberg said. “But that ‘make America great again,’ he can barely hold himself together from laughing. What kind of endorsement is that?”

In response, both rappers took to social media to address Rosenberg’s comments. Sleepy Hallow responded with a dismissive post on his Instagram Stories, calling Rosenberg an “old n-gga” and using a crying laughter emoji. Sheff G offered a more detailed rebuttal, questioning the notion of political freedom and criticizing the radio hosts for their silence during his moments of success.

“Damn.. thought we was free to vote for whoever we wanted… I never knew we had to have the same political opinion as @laurastylez @oldmanebro @rosenbergradio in order to gain success[.] imagine that…,” Sheff wrote. He continued by pointing out the lack of support from these personalities during his career highs, only to be vocal now when controversy arose.

The Bronx rally saw Sheff and Sleepy share the stage with Trump, where they voiced their support. Sheff emphasized the idea that achievements are often whispered while failures are shouted, expressing his belief that Trump would acknowledge their wins. Sleepy Hallow’s brief but impactful statement, “Make America great again!” was met with loud cheers from the crowd.

While their endorsement of Trump was welcomed by his supporters, it sparked a significant backlash from many fans who accused the rappers of seeking personal gain due to their legal troubles. The debate continues to rage on social media, highlighting the deep divisions within the hip-hop community over political affiliations.
