What is your name?

My real name is Charles Close, but my artist name is CLOSE.

Would you rather have?

50k in cash or a perfect credit score, and why?

I would rather have 50k in cash because my credit score is already solid and I could use that money to promote my music, shoot music videos, and get studio time.

Who is your favorite producer?

My favorite producer is Statik Selektah.

Are you a touring artist or a recording artist?

I consider myself more of a recording artist. I care way more about the quality of the song, message of the song, and lyrics, over how a song will sound while touring. I feel like my music is catchy but I want my audience to actively listen to what I have to say.

Have you ever thought about quitting music?

I have thought about quitting music multiple times. However, my obsession with music and hip-hop forces me to keep making music. I am always looking to improve and evolve my sound.

Favorite Era of music?

My Favorite Era of music is probably 90’s hip-hop.

Do you plan on traveling?

I have traveled many places across the United States. I would love to visit some countries in Asia because I have always been intrigued by Asian culture.

Are you an independent artist or are you signed or under any management?

I am currently an independent artist. I have heard from a few labels in the past but I prefer not to sign to a label if I don’t have to. It would be nice to have a team behind me, but I have a group of local artists in CT that support each other.

What was your most memorable concert, did you perform at it?

My most memorable concert was probably Frank Ocean at Panorama Music Festival. My most memorable concert performance was my first concert. I performed in front of my entire high school and received a standing ovation from the crowd.

What was your biggest challenge that you had to overcome during your music career, so far?

My biggest challenge is getting people to listen to my music. Promotion is expensive but I want my music to reach a wider audience. This is a constant struggle for any independent artists. Getting your name out is so difficult when it seems like everyone is trying to be a musical artist nowadays.
