Industry Standard: Jake Strain Talks Yer Label

Jake Strain is a powerhouse when it comes to social media marketing, not only that but he is a professional audio engineer, and sometimes raps. He mostly focuses his time on helping other artists; learn the tricks of the trade and how to succeed in the music industry independently.

Jake told us the best way to get on in the music industry is to take advice from people who have been in the same shoes as you, but the number one thing is to trust them, don’t be scared to invest, just understand what your investing in.

I remember doing verses for $50 to pay my phone bill to someone paying me $3500.00 for a 12 bar verse that took me 1 hour to write, also stay humble because this rap game is the same as the drug game it’s something you wanna get in and get out. For me not being so much an artist I can have many different artists and control behind the scenes, if its 7 sources of income needed to become a millionaire what if I had 5 artists excluding myself, what about 70 artists on a team. I guess the end result here isn’t money but it’s just to prove a point that we can do this without a major label, trying to sign us for an “advance” which is in other terms a loan; which you have to pay back with interest especially if you flop on the label and get shelved. Most artists only stay hot for a little bit.
