Glasses Malone Challenges P-Lo Over Drake Collaboration Amid West Coast Tensions

The fallout from Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s legendary rap battle continues to spark debates across the West Coast, and now Glasses Malone is questioning where producer P-Lo stands in the ongoing conversation.

The latest discussion centers around Drake’s “2 Hard 4 The Radio,” a track from his ICEMAN project that immediately caught attention for its West Coast-inspired production. The song leans heavily into the region’s sound, including a nod to Bay Area legend Mac Dre, while also arriving in the aftermath of Drake’s highly publicized rivalry with Kendrick Lamar.

P-Lo, who helped produce the track, recently found himself answering questions about the collaboration during an appearance on the Back On Figg podcast. That conversation eventually caught the attention of Glasses Malone, who called P-Lo directly and challenged him over his decision to work with Drake.

From Malone’s perspective, the West Coast should maintain a sense of unity when it comes to major conflicts involving artists from outside the region. He appeared to view P-Lo’s involvement with Drake as a situation that conflicted with that idea of regional solidarity.

P-Lo, however, pushed back on the criticism. The Bay Area producer explained that he was not in the studio with Drake during the creation of the record and claimed he was unaware of any potential shots or underlying messages connected to the Kendrick Lamar situation.

P-Lo also emphasized that he approaches music as a business and pointed to his relationships within the Bay Area. He specifically referenced his connection with E-40, rather than Kendrick, further highlighting the personal relationships that influence how different West Coast figures navigate the situation.

That explanation raises a larger question: Does West Coast loyalty require artists and producers to take sides in every rap feud?

The issue has become particularly complicated because the Drake-Kendrick battle blurred the lines between Los Angeles and Bay Area hip-hop. Kendrick’s The Pop Out concert, which prominently celebrated West Coast culture, further fueled conversations about regional unity. E-40’s involvement in that event has also become part of the broader discussion.

For now, P-Lo appears to be standing firmly behind his Bay Area identity, while Malone’s criticism reflects a different interpretation of what West Coast solidarity should look like.

Interestingly, neither Drake nor Kendrick Lamar has publicly weighed in on the dispute between Malone and P-Lo. That leaves the conversation largely in the hands of the artists and fans who continue to debate whether regional loyalty should outweigh individual relationships and business decisions.

As the dust continues to settle from one of hip-hop’s biggest rivalries, the West Coast is once again having a conversation about identity, loyalty, and where artists draw the line between business and culture. Whether Glasses Malone and P-Lo eventually see eye-to-eye remains to be seen, but for now, the debate is keeping the Drake-Kendrick fallout alive in an entirely different way.
