New Music Spotlight: Young Brisbane artist Imthxfuture caused waves throughout Australia and the US in 2023 – why he’s one of the acts you should be paying attention to in the year ahead.
Imthxfuture has been assertive as an independent artist, creative in his approach to rap music, and highly motivated when navigating the sometimes-tricky music industry. Here’s an overview of how he will be a crucial player in the next 12 months.
2024 is already gearing up to be a big year for new music, with fans and critics looking to discover who might break into the limelight shortly.

One of the artists who seems destined to receive plenty of attention this year is rising Aussie rapper Imthxfuture.
For those who don’t know him, Imthxfuture is the star behind the summer 2023 single ‘Lifestyle,’ considered one of the best rap music releases by an independent artist last year.
‘Lifestyle’ was the culmination of years of work from Imthxfuture. The Brisbane-born artist started making music at 10 – and started seriously releasing music at just 12 years old. His songs received a lot of respect and still hold up well even now, even though Imthxfuture has come a long way since his early days.
‘Lifestyle’ became one of Imthxfuture’s defining hits for various reasons. Probably the top reason was that it showed Imthxfuture had the appetite and the hunger for stardom, even though he was still relatively young and doing everything independently. The music video for ‘Lifestyle’ – which was directed by Imthxfuture’s brother/manager and filmed by his high school friend – was truly incredible, with the artist and his team pulling out all the stops by bringing in all kinds of flash and glitz – Lamborghinis, helicopters, etc – despite working on a small budget without any backing.

The music video and the single itself paid massive dividends, with Yung Future picking up attention in US music hubs, including from labels based in New York. Imthxfuture traveled to the States to discuss what might come next in his career. He eventually partnered up with well-known music manager Chris Clemenza (not a wrong move for an independent artist whose story started on the other side of the world).
But 2024 is Imthxfuture’s most pivotal year yet, with more considerable challenges and – potentially – more enormous successes in the offing. Under the guidance of Chris Clemenza, the artist has been collaborating in recent months with NFL player and music artist Antonio Brown and acclaimed rapper Jay Critch. Together, they’ve shared the news that they’ve worked on songs and videos, much to the excitement of their collective fanbases.
‘How I’m Living’ is slated for release on February 15, alongside a music video shot on the streets of New York City.
If Imthxfuture can deliver on this track as strongly as he did on his previous singles, he’s set to have a very bright 2024 indeed.
