Music is many things, but for SquadButter, music is a journey, a story unfolding before a vast landscape of Afrobeat sounds and spectacle. It’s a passion, one that roars forth in an ocean of musical variety, hitting at the very core of what makes them who they are. It’s an avenue to share personal stories, thoughts, opinions, growth and more, packaged into a rhythmic palate of sounds.
But of course, behind every great musical act is a story, and in this regard, we’re sure you have a few questions. Who are SquadButter, where’d they come from, why that tantalizingly delicious name?
Also, how do they keep pumping out all these wonderful jams, with such rich sound and excellent production? Well, we’re glad you asked!

Who Are SquadButter?
SquadButter are a dynamic duo of songwriting, sound engineering, Afropop maestros based in Washington, USA. Coming together to put on a show, spread their messages and put their love of music on display, they’re a melodic force to be reckoned with. Music isn’t simply a hobby for SquadButter, it’s a passion, a love, even a way of life.
Originally, both the super smooth SquadButter members had solo projects, but when they began working together in the studio, musical sparks flew. It was a calling, and with fantastic chemistry, they’d join forces to form the electrifying musical project that is SquadButter. We’re motivated to make the music we want to make, and we’re happy doing it.
“SquadButter is a homegrown project, proudly 100% independent and making exactly the type of music we want to make. We want to make music that carries emotion, to reach out to people who share our thoughts and ideas. We want to let them know that we understand it’s tough, and we’re here for them. Music is strength, and we’d like to give people something to hold on to as well.“

What Kind Of Music Do We Make?
“SquadButter’s primary genre is Afropop, throwing in different influences for an eclectic but delectable sound you’ll be hard-pressed to find anywhere else. We want to stand out, to be a distinct entity within a sea of other musical performers, and to that end we’ve worked hard to make music that we feel best represents us and what we stand for.“

“As we mentioned, we want our music to be emotionally resonant, no matter who the listener may be. Regardless of whether you’re feeling happier than ever or sad about this or that, we will have a song that you can vibe with. We speak through our music directly to our listeners, and we’re extremely grateful to them for giving us the drive to keep making more of our art. All of our lyrics are carefully written to be personal to SquadButter, because we believe that everyone has their own unique story and experience to share. When we share common ground and relate to each other, that’s when we’re all level. It’s what results in the emotionally resonant music we make. We’ve been at it for two years now after all!
You can check out our music over at our Spotify, or on other streaming platforms. There you’ll find our current line-up of songs including the lovely Bombardier, featuring Moezi. Currently, we’re working on our big debut album, and it’s set to be an absolute blast! Featuring even more collabs, while we have no official release date, you can expect some serious fire to drop between October and November!“

SquadButter Is Proudly Indie?
“That we are! As we said earlier, SquadButter is free of the crushing grip of any music label, allowing us to have full creative freedom of our music. We can collaborate with who we want as smooth as butter, and we get to choose what our songs are all about. While we aren’t opposed to having a distribution deal at some point, we’ll never give up the creative freedom to express ourselves how we want. When it comes to collaborations, we also don’t skimp out! We don’t just collab with anyone, we choose the best people who we vibe with on a personal level, and work with them tirelessly to make music you can love. It results in collab processes that are as smooth as butter. Our dream collaboration is to work on a project with Burna Boy, and we’re hoping to make it a reality some day!
For now though, we’re happy with the support we already have! We’ve seen so much support from fans in the United States, Germany, France and especially our homeland Nigeria, and it really does give us the extra push to keep doing our best in the music game! We’d also like to thank our producers for putting in the hours, and a shout out to Kenzy, he’s doing great work and is a name to watch!“

Afterwords From SquadButter :
“We’d just like to once again thank our fans for the support, you’re what makes SquadButter the best smooth, grounded musical act that we can be. We all share a love of music, it’s our common ground. Music is simultaneously everything to us and also our life, so to be able to do this for all of you is a gift. We’re driven by you guys and our hunger to do our best, so keep enjoying the music!“
