Ed Sheeran is taking a bold step in both his personal and professional life by moving to the United States. The singer revealed the news during an appearance on The 2 Johnnies podcast, sharing that he, wife Cherry Seaborn, and their daughters Lyra and Jupiter will soon be settling across the Atlantic.
“I’m just about to move to America,” Sheeran said, adding with a smile, “I feel like I might be the only person moving to America.”
The move is driven by practicality. With a major tour lined up, the 34-year-old explained that constant travel between England and the U.S. isn’t realistic while raising young children. “I can’t dip in and out. We’re going and settling there,” he said.
Though the family’s destination hasn’t been confirmed, Sheeran has frequently expressed his admiration for Nashville, Tennessee. Known as the heart of country music, the city could also serve as the launching pad for his long-considered transition into the genre. “Nashville is, like, my favorite city in the States,” he told Call Her Daddy. “My end goal would be like, I’m gonna move to Nashville and transition to country.”
Sheeran recognizes that such a shift requires commitment. “I feel like once you transition to country, you can’t transition back. Once you’re there, you’re there,” he said.
In recent years, Sheeran has already expanded his presence in America, purchasing a $10 million apartment in Brooklyn, New York. That investment, alongside his Suffolk estate in England, gives him the flexibility to balance both worlds.
For fans, his U.S. move isn’t just about geography—it hints at new creative directions. As Sheeran settles into this next chapter, his journey could bring a fresh wave of music shaped by America’s rich musical traditions.
