Birdman is doubling down on Cash Money’s legacy—and its massive financial role in shaping three of hip-hop’s biggest stars. During his appearance on Cannon’s Class with Nick Cannon, the music mogul opened up about the deep investments Cash Money made into the careers of Drake, Lil Wayne, and Nicki Minaj under the Young Money umbrella.
While Young Money was led by Lil Wayne, it was Cash Money’s infrastructure that funded the trio’s rise, according to Birdman. He claims the label funneled an estimated $2 billion into building their careers, from early development to global superstardom.
“We really put the bag behind them,” Birdman said. “Everything they needed, we provided. And the return? Speak for itself.”
The comments arrive as Birdman reconnects with his original Cash Money crew, reuniting with the Hot Boys on stage earlier this year and teasing more legacy-focused moves.
