Roddy Ricch’s highly anticipated THE NAVY ALBUM didn’t drop on streaming platforms as scheduled on Friday (Dec. 6), but the Compton rapper still treated fans to new music. At midnight, he released the track “Lonely Road,” which features production from Turbo and Terrace Martin.

The accompanying video, directed by Sergio, shows Roddy cruising through the city in a Maybach, surrounded by “guardian angels” that align with the song’s poignant chorus: “I need help ’cause I’m blinded, God, give me direction/ Can You send me some angels for protection?” The visual culminates with a soulful saxophone riff from Martin, adding depth to the track’s emotional tone as Roddy drives across the iconic Sixth Street Bridge.

In the song’s second verse, Roddy reflects on his journey: “If you at the bottom or behind the wall, dog/ I was just a pedestrian, now I can pull up rose up at the wall, dog/ Roddy rap like the rent due/ Roddy tell ’em the whole truth.”

While fans eagerly await THE NAVY ALBUM, which is confirmed to feature 16 tracks and is slated for release on Feb. 21, 2025, Roddy has been building anticipation with singles like “Survivor’s Remorse” and “911.” However, “911” won’t make it onto the final album.

In the meantime, Roddy is also gearing up for his Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial fifth-anniversary concert in Los Angeles on Friday (Dec. 6), where he’ll perform hit songs like “The Box,” “High Fashion,” “Start Wit Me,” and “Bacc Seat.” While it’s unclear if he’ll have special guests, the 2019 album featured notable collaborations with Gunna, Meek Mill, Ty Dolla Sign, Lil Durk, Mustard, and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie.

Beyond his own projects, Roddy recently featured on Kendrick Lamar’s GNX album in November, collaborating on the track “dodger blue” alongside Wallie The Sensei and Siete7x.
