New Year, New Vision: BK Gazi Talks Growth, Independence, and the Road Ahead

As the new year kicks off, BK Gazi is stepping into it with clarity, confidence, and a sharper sense of purpose. The Westerville, Ohio native has been quietly building momentum as both an artist and producer, carving out a lane defined by versatility and full creative control. In an era where many artists rely on teams to shape their sound, BK Gazi is doing it all himself—and that independence is central to his journey.

We caught up with BK Gazi to talk about his mindset heading into the new year, his evolution as an artist, and where he sees himself going next.

How does the new year feel for you creatively?
“For me, the new year feels like a reset but also a continuation,” BK Gazi explains. “I’ve spent the last few years really learning myself—my sound, my strengths, and my weaknesses. Now it’s about applying everything I’ve learned and moving smarter.”

BK Gazi’s journey officially began with his first release, “Runnit,” a track that introduced his ability to balance sharp songwriting with hands-on production. Since then, he’s leaned fully into being self-sufficient, writing and producing his own music while also developing visual concepts from scratch. That level of control, he says, keeps his vision pure.

Who inspires your approach to music?
“My biggest inspirations are J. Cole, Drake, Kanye West, and Lil Wayne,” he says. “They all found ways to evolve without losing themselves.” Among them, J. Cole stands above the rest. “That’s my dream collaboration. His storytelling, authenticity, and longevity are unmatched.”

Remaining unsigned hasn’t slowed BK Gazi down. If anything, it’s fueled his hunger. Backed by close friends and a tight creative circle, he’s kept collaborations limited but meaningful—working with one Columbus-based artist and his brother. “I’m big on energy and trust,” he adds. “That matters more than numbers right now.”

His latest release, “In My Duff,” reflects a more confident, self-assured version of BK Gazi—one who knows his worth and isn’t afraid to say it. With new singles and an album already in motion, 2026 is shaping up to be a pivotal year.

What are your long-term goals?
“Five years from now, I see myself signed, but still grinding,” he says. “The hustle doesn’t stop once you ‘make it.’ It just levels up.”

Though he hasn’t performed live yet, BK Gazi already envisions himself on stages in Los Angeles and eventually touring with artists like Lil Foil. For now, the focus is clear: consistency, growth, and staying true to the journey. BK Gazi isn’t rushing the process—he’s building something meant to last.
