Bobby Brown Recalls Irv Gotti Dropping $1M For Ja Rule Collab “Thug Lovin”

Bobby Brown’s legendary run is full of wild stories, but one that recently resurfaced involves a hefty million-dollar check and a major hip-hop collab. According to Brown, Irv Gotti shelled out a cool $1 million to get him on Ja Rule’s 2002 single “Thug Lovin,” a moment that marked a key crossover between eras of R&B and rap.

The scene was dramatized in The Bobby Brown Story on BET, showcasing not just the music connection but also a personal reunion between Bobby and his older brother around the time of the track’s release. It was a power move that brought Bobby back into the spotlight and added extra flavor to Ja’s reign in the early 2000s.

Interestingly, Bobby also recently shared his thoughts on today’s artists, naming Chris Brown—not Usher—as the closest thing to Michael Jackson. That might raise some eyebrows, especially since Usher has credited Bobby as one of his earliest idols.

But whether it’s through iconic records or strong opinions, Bobby Brown stays at the center of the conversation.
