Boobie Hondo, a name steeped in personal history and cultural significance, is quickly carving out a place for himself in the music world. His stage name is a blend of two cherished memories: “Boobie,” a nickname bestowed by his grandmother Rosetta, and “Hondo,” a term meaning “warrior” from a doctor he once worked with. This fusion perfectly encapsulates the strength and individuality that define his music. Music runs deep in Boobie’s veins, a legacy passed down through generations. His grandmother sang in a choir, his grandfather played guitar, and his Uncle Saul was a celebrated blues singer in Memphis. Growing up surrounded by these influences, along with the lyrical creativity of his older brother Rio and cousin Wayne, Boobie found himself irresistibly drawn to music. “They inspired me to pursue it,” he reflects, attributing his journey to his family’s artistic roots. Boobie’s influences are as eclectic as his sound. He honed his understanding of hip-hop by studying legends like Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, and 50 Cent, creating a foundation that allows him to craft music with both authenticity and versatility. His latest single, *S.O.B (Standing on Business)*, has exceeded expectations, resonating with listeners in his hometown and beyond. “The feedback has been incredible,” he shares, crediting patience and persistence for the song’s success. Boobie’s upcoming EP, *In My Bag*, promises to showcase his range, with collaborations including his brother Rio, Justo Moe, Kitco, and K30rrddyy. “It’s something different for me and shows my versatility,” he says, hinting at even bigger things to come. With a dream to collaborate with icons like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole, Boobie Hondo is not only standing on business—he’s standing on the edge of greatness.
