Bobby was released from Clinton Correctional Facility in upstate New York on Tuesday, February 23rd of 2021. He was greeted by his fellow rapper Quavo who is apart of the Migos.
Quavo decided to do his long-time friend a favor of style by picking him up in his own private jet. Quavo had been encouraging Bobby during his sentence even from the start.
Bobby speaks of his lowest times during his time of being down expressing how he caught many of violations such as drug possession and fighting. The turning point of his life was when he received a letter from a six year old girl stating that he was his favorite rapper. ”
It was 2016, I was in the box when I read that letter. That let me know that I had kids watching me and I have to be a role model.” He later explained how he didn’t care much for anything until he went to jail and saw how all of his fans stayed loyal. “I can’t make a week that I didn’t see at least 10 pieces of mail a week during his whole bid.
On his first day out GQ was one of the first major blogs that actually got to have a sit down with Bobby himself to discuss his long-awaited first day out. That interview explained a lot as to how Bobby and Quavo have such a close relationship. Quavo stated, “He would get in trouble and stayed in the hole.” Quavo said, “He would just tell me how crazy it was in there. I’d just say, keep your head up and stay. down, because we’re all black.
We‘ve all been in tough situations, but I ain’t never had to do years like that.” Quavo himself has had many petty charges that never had enough weight to cause a prison sentence. “At the end of the day, if you do that it’s an easy road to success when you get out. Have you some goals set, have some plans, some money plans.”
During his sentence, Bobby explained how he wanted to have a plan that could take him far or quote on quote, “Do it the legal way.” He ventured into many different avenues and found out that he had a back for real estate. He read multiple books educating himself because he planned on.
finding his way into that industry of works outside of making music. Bobby stated in one of the videos recorded on the day of his release, “I’ll be a light-skinned Jamaican with dread before he goes back to that place.”
Bobby was introduced to all of his major hits platinum on his long-awaited first day out with Quavo. His long-time friend gifted him with numerous gifts that the normal person couldn’t afford on a daily. The world sits back and gasps at how Bobby Shmurda has elevated himself mentally to grow into having a successful career and also being a role model for the youth.
