Isaac Eli ; Los Angelos, California.
Q.) What is your name/stage name?
A.) “I’ve always struggled with making music that is truly me; that feels genuine inside and out and with that, each stage name I’ve chosen has been a struggle to continuously align with the music with that name and vibe…So I had a thought why not just make my government name my stage name and then anything I do will be considered true to myself and not me trying to be anybody else. Since then, I’ve gone by “Isaac Eli” … It’s my first name and part of my middle name.”
Q.) Where are you located?
A.) “Right now, I’m blessed to live in one of the greatest cities in the world, Los Angeles. I always knew it was the center of music and entertainment, but after living here for over a year I’ve gotten to see firsthand just how much people hustle for their art and take their crafts seriously; It was just the energy I needed at this stage in my career, so I made the move and never looked back, you know.”
Q.) What is the meaning behind your name?
A.) “Haha, It’s my real name. It’s Hebrew for “laughter” and my mom said she named me it because she laughed when she found out she was pregnant again after not wanting anymore kids.”
Q.) What are your roles within the music industry?
A.) “I’m a lyricist, rapper, singer, songwriter & producer…I love to perform too man, it’s my favorite thing in the world to showcase my art live!”
Q.) What got you into music?
A.) “I had a close friend when I was 15 or so that was heavy into the rap game like right around the time Drake dropped his first mixtape ‘Comeback Season’. He put me on to the rap game and I started writing a remix to ‘Amazing’ by Kanye West after I heard my homie record a couple tracks. I sent him the song and he said it was alright, but I needed work. So, I just started writing shit down in a spiral notebook and then I would get on Xbox Live and rap shit to my friends. It wasn’t long before I was choosing beats to go with my songs and then pushed my first mixtape out in 2012 senior year of high school. It was called ‘24 Karatz’ and I been making music since.”
Q.) What type of music do you make?
A.) “Lately I’ve been making contemporary R&B with Rap/Hip-Hop foundations; the music is very similar to the style of artists like Saint Jhn, PartyNextDoor, Tory Lanez, Post Malone, & The Weeknd. Don’t get it twisted though my pen is strong, I can drop straight up bars when I need to listen to ‘115F in Indio’ on all streaming platforms, I went crazy on that jawn.”
Q.) How long have you been making music?
A.) “Shoot, it’s been over 10 years since my first mixtape ever…confidently over a decade’s experience…I’d say close to 12 years total now,”
Q.) What are you making music for?
A.) “See I love this question because a lot of people say they want money, fame, the sexy lifestyle, etc… You wanna know why I make music? The same reason the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, the same reason a dog barks and wags his tail or a surfer waits hours in the ocean for the perfect wave; because they were made that way…I was gifted this ability to put words and sounds together in a rhythmical manner and I don’t feel complete unless I do it… THAT is why I make music to this day.”
Q.) What’s driving you?
A.) “As I said in the last question; there’s just an innate gravity pulling me towards this craft I can’t explain it and frankly I wouldn’t want to :), but what keeps me taking it seriously… now that’s a question. I just have seen so many people legitimize themselves over the years and find true success doing what they love in this industry. I’ve always thought why can’t that be me? Anything I’ve put my mind to I’ve achieved even music in some small bounds in the past, but I finished college, I relocated to both Philly and now LA and have a great job right now that allows me to pursue music while paying all my bills, saving, investing, and traveling the world. Music is the only thing i have left to chase and before i get too old I want to see some real legitimate progress.”
Q.) Who are your biggest supporters?
A.) “Haha, this a good question. My friends from Virginia Beach, the place I grew up, have always recognized and supported my lyrical ability and they love hearing me perform my songs in PS4 parties till this very day.”
Q.) Are you signed to a label?
A.) “No I’m independent currently…I’d be open to signing if the deal made sense for both of us.”
Q.) Do you want a record deal, a distribution deal, or none?
A.) “Again open to signing if the numbers make sense, I care more about being heard though so that’s gotta be a factor in any deal…you know, how much reach does the label actually have.”
Q.) Who are some features that you have?
A.) “My biggest feature to date, was the two songs I had with ‘Lil Xan’ when I went by ‘Henneypapi’ in college, those were good songs. ‘Steven Cannon’ and I got together on a track as well called ‘ZZZ’ that shit fire.”
Q.) What was it like working with Lil Xan?
A.) “I got put on to Xan early before all the major success he had. Shout out to Colin for hooking that up. I never really met him, but I’m grateful he got on the songs.”
Q.) Who are some features you want to get?
A.) “Man where do I begin?? I’ve wanted to work with so many artists over the years but at the top right now is Saint Jhn I KNOWWWW we could make some fire we’re cut from the same cloth. I also wanna collab with The Weeknd one day he’s the greatest artist of our time like literally he is living history.”
Q.) Who’s one person dead or alive that you’d want to work with?
A.) “I think Prince or Michael Jackson would be insane to work with. They both dedicated their whole lives to music and showbiz they’re legends and their music is timeless. Not gonna lie though I could get down with some fire producers definitely wanna work with Metro, Murda Beatz, I fuck with Nav too I’d love to feature with Nav someday people sleep on my mans.”
Q.) is there anybody else you want to shout out for any reason?
A.) “Man too many people right now; One thing’s for certain this craft takes so many people for one person to be successful from social media managers to agents to producers to family to publicists to editors and playlisters…I feel like I’m just getting started right now I just wanna thank my man Jack Brap for being down for every song I bring him, my engineer Evo for blessing tracks and making me sound great, and my producers SFalco and Ivan for supplying me with HEAT; I love all those guys man it’s something special brewing in my house right now, I can’t wait to share it with the world.”
Q.) What are you currently working on?
A.) “Currently I’m working on the music video for ‘OHMYGOD’ which should be released within the next few days or so; I’ll be pushing that for about a month, then I got another single coming out called ‘Only the Finest’. Keep your ears open for that it’s gas, I also wanna do a vid for that too. My friends and I are gonna film a freestyle soon; it’s a remix to ‘Churchill Downs’ that’s gas for sure no doubt I snapped so can’t wait to share that. In truth, I have a big project coming out early next year that I’m preparing to drop and all these little things are meant to bring awareness to the brand so that when I drop it’ll be big.”
Q.) What is your latest release?
A.) “I recently put out a track with my boy Jack Brap called ‘Zero Trust Policy’ it’s fire, Evo laid some custom keys on the end so it sounds like some Travis Scott shit on the outro…”
Q.) When is your next release?
A.) “Next up I’m gonna release ‘Only the Finest’ and do a vid for it as well as that freestyle I mentioned and yea just gonna drop a few singles and videos before the major project comes next year … can’t wait for real it’s the best music I ever made and I can’t wait to share it with the world.
